Overview
Intro to Lean is the first class in the Lean Learning Pathway and the prerequisite course for A3 Thinking 101.
What Is Intro to Lean?
Intro to Lean is a 3.5 hour remote training course conducted by the UCSF Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) focused on the application of Lean fundamentals, concepts, and tools in participants’ daily work at UCSF.
Learning Objectives
- Building a mutual understanding of Lean terminology, tools, and concepts
- Developing eyes for waste to effectively examine and identify areas for improvement in day-to-day processes and workflow
- Practice and apply Lean principles and tools through in-class discussions and activities

Expectations:
The success of this course and the value it provides you will largely depend on your engagement. Successful engagement in this course includes participation in group activities and discussions, asking questions, and sharing examples in class.
There will be a knowledge assessment to close out the class, which highlights the key concepts covered throughout the course. The goal is for participants to reach a learning score of 80% or better.
This course is a prerequisite for A3 101.

The intention of this short introductory course is to provide rudimentary instruction on the basics of Lean.
