The EMPO works with leaders and teams to diagnose issues, create strategic plans, and/or design programs to effectively address the need.  

What We Do

Strategy/Program Design is the process of creating a deliberate plan that aligns decisions with the overall goals, whether it be for a program, team, department, or organization. Strategic Planning is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, and ensure team members take action to work toward common goals. 

Strategic Planning includes facilitating the development of: 

  • Mission and Vision Statements 
  • Strategic Priorities 
  • Goals, Subgoals, and Action Plans for each Strategic Priority 
  • Management system tools/documents for tracking and check and adjust.

How We Do It

We guide you through Strategic Planning, providing support through a series of activities: 

  • Conduct project start-up and ongoing planning: this may include creating the overall work plan, reviewing work already underway 
  • Conduct discovery work: this may include reviewing past or existing mission and vision statements and strategic plans, engaging stakeholders through interviews, focus groups, or surveys to understand the current situation 
  • Create or refine Missions and Vision statements 
  • Develop goals and high-level actions 
  • Get stakeholder feedback 
  • Refine / Build Out Action Plan 
  • Create final documentation 
  • Create framework for management system: After developing an action plan, it is important to establish a system for ongoing checking and adjusting on progress toward goals.
