What We Do
Process improvement is a collaborative approach to help teams/organizations improve their business or operational processes. It involves developing a plan to understand what is working, what is not, and what can be done to improve the overall process.
In addition to facilitating process improvement workshops, the EMPO also coaches teams to apply Lean Methodology and Tools to empower internal process improvement, communication, and productivity. This includes A3 Thinking, True North, Active Daily Engagement, Value Stream Mapping, and courses in our Lean Learning Pathway.

How We Do It
Depending on the client’s situation, we will customize the approach to meet the client’s needs.
A common approach for process improvement used in the EPMO is Kaizen or Continuous Improvement Workshops that include a series of activities:
- Understand Stakeholders’ and Customers’ Values through interviews or focus groups
- Develop a shared understanding of the overall current state process to uncover pain points/problems, including redundancies, inefficiencies, and waste. Oftentimes, this is done through facilitated in-person workshops to visualize the process steps through process mapping or value stream mapping
- Identify and Prioritize the Root Causes of those identified problems. Root Cause Analysis tools include fishbone diagrams and 5Whys.
- Identify and Prioritize Improvement Actions to move toward the future state
- Define an Action Plan and a Management Plan for check and adjust
